Biography
Elizabeth Le Grove grew up in Suffolk. She studied music at the University of Wales, Bangor, and was awarded a Bachelor of Music honours degree in 1980. She then spent three years as Assistant Organist at Bangor Cathedral, before taking the Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) course at Durham University. In 1984 she was awarded the PGCE, together with the Royal College of Organists’ Fellowship qualification (FRCO) and diploma in choral training and conducting (CHM). She later gained the M Phil degree for musical analysis.
She taught at schools and colleges before being appointed in 1996 to the post of Director of Academic Music, Higher Training at the Royal Marines School of Music. Here, she taught on the Bandmasters’ Course and she was Course Leader for the Royal Marines School of Music Bachelor of Music honours and Master of Music degree programmes. In 2004 she completed a Doctorate in Education at the Institute of Education, University of London. She retired from the Royal Marines School of Music in 2023. She is Director of Music at the Church of St Peter and St Paul, Hambledon, and she plays the organ regularly in concerts, recitals as well as church services.
