Biography
Timothy Rogerson was born in Beverley, Yorkshire, where for three years he took organ lessons at the town’s historic Minster. He moved to Hampshire in 1990 to study at the University of Southampton and, after graduating in 1993, stayed to train as a Chartered Accountant, a qualification he achieved in 1997. He worked until 2010 in an accountancy practice leaving to pursue a freelance career. He now works inter alia part-time as Finance Director for a charity one based in London and, since last month, as Chief Finance Officer at Portsmouth Cathedral.
After joining the choir of Romsey Abbey in 1993 he was Assistant Organist from 196 until 2005. During this time he played for most choral services in the Abbey and also accompanied the choir on its annual cathedral singing weeks and two overseas tours. From 2007 to 2013, he was Principal Organist at St Mary’s Church, Southampton. Since 2013 he has played, as time has allowed, in a number of churches in southern Hampshire, including St Michael’s, Southampton, Romsey Abbey and St Catherine’s, Littleton. He also manages the business side of Solent Community Choir, made up of around 100 singers who, as well as performing the Solent area (including two performances at Holy Trinity), have made tours to Bordeaux, Malta, Krakow and Italy.
He gives a significant amount of time to charitable and community work, having been treasurer of a number of charities over the past 25 years including serving as Honorary Treasurer of The Organists Charitable Trust, Kent Almshouses and Romsey Parochial Church Council.
