Biography
Florence Rousseau is a musician who pursues her career with enthusiasm, passion and curiosity. Having trained with great masters such as Liesbeth Schlumberger, Jean Boyer and Louis Thiry, she performs as a concert artist in France and abroad.
A graduate of the Rouen Regional Conservatoire and the Lyond National Higher Conservatoire, she completed her training in early music at the Caen Regional Conservatoire, studying under Bibiane Lapointe and Thierry Maeder. Through workshops and master-classes, she has benefited from the guidance and teaching of Odile Bailleux, Jan Willem Jansen, Mickael Radulescu and Aline Sylberajch. She also studied hymnology under James Lyon, who shared with her, in particular, his passion for English music and the history of England.
As titular organist at Kergonan Abbey, having previously held the post as Rennes Cathedral for 15 years, Florence Rousseau holds the Certificate of Competence in Organ Teaching and teaches at the Saint-Malo Conservatoire.
For many years, she has been artist-in-residence at the Bach Academy in Argues-la-Bataille (Normandy). As part of this collaboration, she organises cultural tours across Europe, exploring the finest historic organs.
Since 2012, she has co-directed, alongside Loïc Georgeault, the festival La Route des Orgues en Pays de Saint-Malo, which offers a varied musical programme showcasing the rich heritage of the organs in the city of Saint-Malo and its surroundings.
Finally , having always been passionate about the harmonium, she plays this instrument mainly in chamber music settings, drawing on a repertoire of traditional music.
Her discography includes a recording of works by J.S. Bach made with Loïc Georgeault on the Silbermann organ in Glauchau (Germany), two recordings of German Baroque works on the new Jean-Fraçois Dupont organ at Kergonan Abbey, as well as a CD entitled ‘Ar Baradoz’, recorded with the Breton singer Yann-Fanch Kemener.
