Beating the Bounds of our Parish
A tradition was born last weekend as we ‘Beat the Bounds’ of the old Holy Trinity geographical boundaries for a second year! Beating the Bounds is an ancient service which involves walking around the edge of a parish praying for the blessing of all its inhabitants and singing hymns. It is customary to carry sticks and beat them gently on the ground at each location, something which was particularly enjoyed by the younger members of our party! We were very lucky with the weather - the walk was a few hours at a gentle pace, taking us past such local landmarks as the Gosport Ferry, the Jubilee Bridge, the Royal Clarence Yard, Morrison’s (!) and the Town Hall. We were fortified halfway by the kind hospitality of Maureen and Nancy. Do join us next year!
